Prep- Strength

Hello Readers,
As a continuation from "Prep- Food" I shall advice you on how to build up your strength. Firstly you want a good diet (see Prep- Food), working out can be hard if you don't have the right diet.
Alot of dancing involves upper body strength you should work out these areas; core(abs) and arms.
To build up you arms start lifting weights, your age really describes how much you should be lifting. If you're -11 you should lift around 1-2kg, 12-14 around 4-5kg and if 16+ you can lift whatever you feel able to. the key is not to start too big because you can damage your mussels especially when your 14 and below as your mussels are still developing and growing.
Now to build up your core you can do a variety of exercises, once again don't push yourself to hard it isn't good for you! A basic one that can be effective is sit-ups, if done properly they act as a quick workout. To perform a sit-up correctly and to maximize effect start off with your feet tucked under a ledge of some sort (under a chair or get a person to hold your feet). This is to stop you from rolling when performing this exercise. Then start against your legs like this^.
Then ease/lean backwards until your back is ALMOST touching the ground the pull yourself upwards without using your hands (or legs, you get more of a work out if you don't touch the ground with your back). Repeat this about 40 times and set yourself a goal e.g. do 5+ more every two days.
This guy is too big! ^_^
Once you've done this you are well on the road to a strong dancing body. Just remember; don't push yourself too far but do push yourself, don't start too big and remember it takes time you cant just do sit-ups for five minutes and expect to turn out all mussely. Remember to keep practicing this builds up your stamina. If you need help or wish to give advice please email me on "cYromatics@live.com".
Thanks
Matt
